YouTube Reviewers

It might surprise you, but there are many Youtube reviewers of sardines and other tinned fish. Most of the best videos involve the opening and consumption of same, along with thoughtful critiques of appearance, taste and value.

Unfortunately, there are also some channels that are just eye-rolling, lip-smacking attention seekers showing off expensive cans you probably won't ever be able to obtain. They aren't included here.

These are some we like, and think you will, too:

Canned Fish Files

Officially Canned Fish Files with Matthew Carlson. "What are we even doing here?"TM This tinned fish lover, at over 150 videos, has cracked open a lot of cans, eaten a lot of 'deenz. "Yeah. Yeah." In addition to following Matthew's sardine journey, you can also follow his progression of hairstyles, from crew cut to Justin Bieber fringe to buzz cut fade. Nice, straightforward video reviews presented in a casual, semi-unscripted style.

Funny Guy Reviews

This affable fellow usually sits at his kitchen table or out on the patio or in his fishing boat, eating and commenting on the tinned fish du jour. Not a ton of views, but has cracked quite a few tins, and always shows you what's in the can. This is his "Sardines Only" playlist, all videos here.

Sardine Expedition

This content creator began reviewing tinned fish, primarily sardines, in late 2024. The production has a bit of polish already, with a two camera setup and post-production editing and graphics. Quite a few reviews are A/B comparisons, with others just single can try-its. Videos are concise and stick to the topic, and are produced on an indoor, dedicated set. Sidekick family canine is always on hand for clean-up duty on the leftovers, unless they're too spicy or dog-inappropriate, in which case he gets a pork rind. Embedding of her videos elsewhere is disallowed, so here's a link.

Tinned Fish Reviews

Sardine and other tinned fish reviews from across the pond. The fez, the merch, the dog... What else could you ask for? Included here for the European vantage point, and some items you may not see reviewed (or even available) in the US. Also has a website, but apparently only for merch. A brief inclusion in a feature on tinned fish on CBS Saturday Morning back in August 2025 appears to have boosted his audience.

Konbini Japan

This Scot (named Scott) has been teaching ESL (English as a second language) in Japan for over 25 years, and is obsessed with konbini foods, enough to dedicate a channel to them. Konbini is the Japanese word for convenience stores, and over there, they're not your average 7-Eleven. A fair few tinned fish reviews, but the rest make for interesting viewing.
